Sometimes, compromise is required. A meeting in the middle can do wonders for a national political contest.

Before Donald Trump, the Republicans had only won TWO national elections in the previous six presidential election cycles. TWO! The Democrats got automatic voter registration with the Motor-Voter Law in the 1990's that was a major part of those election defeats. A compromise nomination for Department of Labor is one factor in a Trump victory this time around.

In other words: You have to try to attract as many voters to your program as possible. That's how you win!
