America needs a variety of workers with various skill levels because so many Americans won't work or lack the skills necessary. So many students who were prepped for college never made it and learned no useful skills in the process, unless you believe that activities on social media are a skill. Multitudes of college students have graduated with nothing but debt and a fancy piece of paper. Some of those debts have been and are being picked up by the government (aka the working class). The government teat has provided too long and entitlement has prevailed for generations. Perhaps weaning those who feel "entitled" away from their "free lunch" would be a good course of action and up for debate. There is a balance to be had with immigration and work Visas, which, in my opinion, is the root of the debate.
"...we don’t need hordes of low and middle-skilled workers dragging down wages and limiting opportunities for citizens." Does this include the "low-skilled" workers Trump hires to work at his winery and golf courses? Economic growth is fueled by the very workers you mention as "limiting opportunity." And Trump's eagerness to hire them speaks to this.
