I think the press should identify them by name; otherwise, your opponent in the debate has already won. If you want to keep the names silent, then I ask (hypothetically representing the other side of the debate), "You say the shooter is the one to blame, but you won't even say who the shooter is. At a minimum, I'm willing to say that the availability of guns is the reason for the killings."
