If You're Going to be Self-righteous and Stupid, Then You Pay a Price.
Denver's Sanctuary City Crisis

This weekend, NBC News posted an article "A city of 710,000 struggles to cope with 40,000 migrant arrivals.”
The reporting commences:
"Nearly 40,000 migrants have arrived in Denver over the past year, making a city with a population of just over 710,000 the top destination per capita for newly arrived migrants crossing the U.S. southern border and traveling north in buses from Texas.
The influx is taking a toll on the city’s public safety net. Starting Feb. 5, Denver will limit the number of days migrants can stay in shelters and send those who exceed their stay out onto the streets.
One Venezuelan family, a mother, father and their three daughters, told NBC News they’ve been staying at a hotel paid for by the city, but they’ve just received notice that they’ll be evicted.
“Just yesterday they started throwing away the toys, the bicycles in the common area,” the mother said. “We don’t know where we will go next.”
Denver Health, the city’s “safety net” hospital, is asking for more money from both the state and federal government to help cover $10 million in unpaid medical bills from migrants.
Denver Mayor Mike Johnston estimates the city will need $100 million over 2024 to pay for housing, schooling, health care and other services as a result of the unexpected influx of migrants."
This brings us to this self-righteous, finger wagging Mayor Mike Johnston.
According to Axios, his predecessor, Mayor Michael Hancock, "signed a bill into law in 2017 codifying the city's resistance to work with federal immigration enforcement, along with legal defense and coordinated assistance, shortly after Donald Trump was elected president. At the time, the mayor said his intent was to let Denver's refugee and immigrant communities know: ‘We've got your backs.’”
Showing their virtue signaling to the national press, public unions and ActBlue donors apparently tops reality.
Mayor Johnston continued the sanctuary policies of Mayor Hancock. Now he apparently realizes that "sanctuary status" is financially untenable to virtue signal for the national press.
Maybe these sanctimonious mayors will start realizing that trying to stick it to Trump and cruel hearted Republicans and play the Oscar role of fake solicitude really isn't compassionate at all in the end. All they have done is given migrants false hope which now requires them to be the villains because you know... you can't escape math and city budgets.
Denver you made your bed. Man up and make it on your own dime.

Well said, and now comes the collapse of their own infrastructure. And who's fault is that? Somehow they will spin it as a Trump thing. But Americans, even those in Denver, see through the smoke and mirrors.
