Hispanics Can Save America
To Return to Power Republicans Must Listen, Learn, Respond to Hispanic Concerns
By Sam Stone
It’s been a bad few years for Republicans. Our President lost to a guy who should be looking forward to his afternoon pudding at the retirement home. We lost one Senate race to a guy who may never again be able to complete a sentence, and another to a woman who is, like, you know, like, trying really, really hard to be Elle Woods. The deep state is real, and far scarier than anyone would have imagined. World Economic Forum elites really are planning to rid the world of a majority of the human population. Covid came from a lab, but pointing out that fact makes you racist. If you don’t bow at the alter of St. Fauci, you’re a mass murderer who’s most certainly already killed grandma. Schools are teaching kids that boys can be girls and all white people are racist. Two generations of deliberately miseducated young people are demanding “equity”, meaning “socialism”, except that they can’t actually define either word. The press is lying to us about all of it, and when the bullcrap gets exposed they switch to gaslighting – pretending the lies they amplified never existed in the first place.
So, yeah, it’s been a bad few years, but the future doesn’t have to look anything like our recent past. Hispanics are the fastest growing ethnic group in the United States, and their values are not in any way aligned with the modern left. Ask a Cuban or Venezuelan about the siren song of socialism. Ask a Mexican about our wide-open borders. Ask any Hispanic father if it’s ok for someone’s boy to decide they’re a girl today and change next to his daughter tomorrow. Hispanics are not leftists, but many of them are Democrats. Why? Because Republicans haven’t taken the time to listen to them, and Democrats have. Republicans haven’t brought them into our power structures, and Democrats have.
Now, Democrats may have listened to Hispanics, but – just like with Black people – listening is all they’ve done. Once the votes are tallied, Democrats ignore them. If Republicans want to turn this country around, we’re going to need Hispanics to do it, and we’re going to have to do more for them than Democrats have. Florida, specifically South Florida, holds the key. We can replicate the Miami Miracle nationwide.
Just a few years ago, the Republican Party was pretty much as dead in Miami-Dade county as we are in the rest of America’s biggest urban areas. Today, Miami-Dade is purple trending to red. How that happened should be the blueprint for every Republican state party in the country. It wasn’t luck (and as much as Ron DeSantis or Donald Trump would each like to claim otherwise) it wasn’t the result of one politician. The Miami Miracle is the result of careful, targeted investments in field ops, strategic recruitment of highly qualified Hispanic candidates, and promotion of policies designed to meet the specific needs of working class and entrepreneurial families. It’s the result of respect.
Florida Republicans made it clear to Florida Hispanic voters that they respected them, their communities, cultures, and families, and passed laws to support them. They made it easier to do business, easier to get kids out of failing schools and into better ones. They promoted young Hispanic politicians and gave them access to the financial and power networks they’d need to succeed. The turnaround didn’t happen overnight, but it did happen, and will only strengthen in the future. Democrats can kiss Florida goodbye for a generation or more. If Republicans across the rest of the country want to see similar success, we need to follow the same formula.
