This past week, a liberal journalist made a false comparison on Twitter regarding a piece Rolling Stone magazine wrote entitled "Trump White House Pressured Disney to Censor ... Jimmy Kimmel."
The article wrote that “... according to two former Trump administration officials, was so upset by Kimmel’s comedic jabs that he directed his White House staff to call up one of Disney’s top executives in Washington, D.C., to complain and demand action (ABC, on which Jimmy Kimmel Live! has long aired, is owned by Disney).”
In at least two separate phone calls that occurred around the time Trump finishing his first year in office, the White House conveyed the severity of his fury with Kimmel to Disney, the ex-officials tell Rolling Stone. Trump’s staff mentioned that the leader of the free world wanted the billion-dollar company to rein in the Trump-trashing ABC host, and that Trump felt that Kimmel had, in the characterization of one former senior administration official, been “very dishonest and doing things that [Trump] would have once sued over.”1
This article is ... well not surprising. Why? Because this is former President Trump's modus operandi regarding critics. He doesn't like to be criticized. In fairness, who does? However, most of us move on to other things.
Also, it is no shocker that Trump Derangement Syndrome President Jimmy Kimmel mocked Trump every night in his "holier than thou" monologues. Jimmy will be Jimmy. President Trump should have and needed to be above the fray and focus on important matters. Not a low rated, sanctimonious late-night talk show whose audience is liberal.
But less I digress further, the real hoot in all of this is this journalist's Tweet. He tries to compare the Rolling Stone story (and leak) to the Twitter Files. Hence in catty vigor calling out Matt Taibbi suggesting he should have covered this “BREAKING NEWS” from Rolling Stone. He didn't apparently care to let logic get in the way of his snide comment. Remember, Matt was covering Twitter’s internal documents. I am unaware he had access to Trump White House emails or Rolling Stone drafts.
Why are the Twitter Files different? Because unlike Rolling Stone, there was no leak. Twitter suppressed real debate and facts. None of these communications or the Biden Administration's heavy handed, arm twisting of Twitter would have come to light without Elon Musk releasing documents to Matt Taibbi and his colleagues. None of it.
One is a story of a thin-skinned president being thrown under the bus by former staffers and Disney more than willing to confirm the embarrassing story verses Twitter actually suppressing and lying about what they did on matters that really matter.
Your parents would have called any comparison of a Rolling Stone story to Twitter files an "apples to oranges” comparison. They would be correct and apparently, some journalists do not understand the distinction. But hey, whatever gets you likes and retweets from all the keyboard warriors.
